I’m not doing it full size but it’s still going to take 11 hours to print.

The hand of Adam
So I have changed the settings on the printer and pieces are now coming out a lot better.
The hand piece is completely new , it’s actually the hand of Adam by Rodin, the 3D scanning has taken away all the grace and beauty of the original sculpture and made it rather clumpy.
The foot that the figure is holding is a scan of a foot carved and cast by Eduardo Paolozzi.

I am not your father
So to confirm this is definitely not Darth Vader I have excavated from its supports.
It is a total mashup of myself and others. I’m now going to print it again in the grey plastic on a slower speed that gets rid of quite a few of the flaws in the print.
I’m sure at some point the printer will get worn out.

Face off
What can only be described as a face off between the black and grey.
I’m still not sure which colour works best. What I do know is there are issues with these prints so I have ordered some hardware upgrades for the printer and I may have to re calibrate the printer bed.
Still I like what has been achieved, I could see these as slip cast porcelain sculptures.

Grey or black?
Yesterday’s print I’m not sure about the colour so I’m now printing a black variant to see if it looks any better.
This print also has some problems where the printing has slipped.
I also like the architectural additions under what would be a head.

Collage
I’m so caught up with this scanning and printing.
Collage 1 incorporating classical sculpture, myself and a fragment from the studio of Eduardo Paolozzi.
Printed in low resolution so the separate elements as slightly recognisable and ghost like.
I have also taken the decision to leave some of the support architecture in place as it all adds to the mystique of the sculpture.

I’m not scared
Wow some 20 years ago a book clocking in at 1260 pages would have scared the living daylights out of me, now it excites me with so many possibilities and the knowledge held within.
As can be seen I’ve done a quick run through to find areas that already interest me

Impossible structures
Being a man of a certain age I remember having plastic model aeroplane kits as a kid, spending time popping the pieces out and gluing them together.
Jump to now and I have been intrigued with the support structures formed whilst printing a 3D model.
These structures are usually cut off and thrown away. So I’ve been looking at them and finally the model plane memories kicked in, some super glue and these left over pieces and I have started building this strangely odd structure.
Where to next I might scan it and reprint it to see what happens .
