Amended
Busy weekend with the printer ( the second one maybe needed soon)
First up this figure I think it is finally resolved.
The dark version is the new and amended version thanks to mesh mixer, I have removed sections and blended them in.
Even though the lighter grey version has something about it there were troubles printing it and lots of wastage.
Please let me know what you guys think.

No mans land
I know it’s late and I know to some that these pictures may look like a mess of a work top, which I agree it is but look closely and you will see a kind of harmony of structures forming.
The juxtaposition of the past and the future, the defined and the undefined, the no mans land of ideas forming and slowly becoming something else.

Face hugger
So after some false starts due to bed levelling I finally got there with my amended self portrait.
I act like the look of it in the first few photos with the support structures, they look like hands or a face hugger so now I’m going to rescan it and see what I get.

The self
So I really was not going to do a scan of my head and print it but somehow it kind of makes sense.
The first picture is what I printed last night, the second picture is this morning’s amendments on meshmixer , this model is now printing and hopefully in 5 hours I will get a result.
It’s amazing how rapid this learning curve is, there are times when I find myself scratching my head trying to figure out what im really doing but this is all part of it.

After a day of frustration with Virgin media it’s great to have at least one thing go right.

A Frankenstein amalgamation of appropriated sources. The gear for the head is an original plaster cast by the artist Eduardo Paolozzi, the piece under the chest is from part of the Millennium Falcon, the torso is from a 3D scan of the torso at the Ufizi museum.
The brick was found in a skip as par of builders waste.

Taking over
Some would ask why but I’m now trying to take an idea as far as I can to the point that very little is retained, can it get any more defamiliarised?
For this I scanned the piece I have been working on before breaking away the support structures.
What is now happening is this is printing but in so doing nee support structures are forming.
These structures are formed using the experimental tree setting, it now looks like it is taking over the structure and releasing tantalising hints of what was there.
Really looking forward to now seeing the final piece.

After days of try to get a good print of this piece I finally got there.
A change of filament and settings have helped do the trick.
Now the printer is going again working on a new version of this with all the supports as part of if it.
