Evening boredom

I know it’s not a great photo but this is what happens when loneliness and boredom kicks in.
I decided to stitch my totem/mask rug together I then placed it on the length of dowel and jammed it between the floor and the ceiling of my studio, now I’m stitching raffia to it.
It’s funny how it’s slowly taking on a life of its own.

Phut phut

Ah phut, phut, wheez, screech, phut,phut, wheez, screech ah the sound of the tufting gun in action. Well the black is in so next week will come the off white, at which point the details will come back. I actually like the misfires in this piece as it looks like the image is dripping away.

Evening loneliness

It’s funny I’ve been a widower now for two years and I’m still not used to the loneliness of the evenings once my daughter has gone to bed.
Thankfully I now have a studio at home so it was time to sanctify this canvas with some paint, if I did not put some on it then I would be looking at the same image for months whilst I decided what colours to paint it.
In many ways it’s like a mathematical equation or one big puzzle that slowly reveals its self.
Other times it can be dammed frustrating as the painting goes through it’s scruffy stage before coming back together, this all takes time and many hours of loneliness.
Funnily why am I going on about stuff here it’s not as if any one reads what I write but then again once it is out there it’s off my chest, so if anyone wants to chat please feel free to ring me it would make my day.

The day is done

Back to the noisy phut, phut, of the tufting gun. This is a more graphic piece and it’s funny how so far the B side looks much better than the A side. Then again once the background colour goes in it should pull itself all together.
After this I’m going to start thinking about larger curled up rugs and how big I can take them.

On and on

Some times I do stop but today’s not that day.
I decided that it was time to pick a sacrificial piece to test out a Matt black glaze. It looked a lot better before I added the second coat, I like the way the glaze has not completely covered this piece.
Next to the anointing heat of the kiln and then we will see what has happened.
