Due to other commitments I have found it hard to properly find the time to focus on this piece, I know it is going in the right direction, and I love the way the surface scarification is working out, and how this is looking like an artefact you could see in a museum case. It would be interesting to be able to slip them in to museum collections, I expect they would blend in rather easily, would anyone even notice them? I have been marvelling at this Megalithic Menhir , from 2500BC for most of the day. The simplicity of form yet the effectiveness of the carving is truly stunning. The experts say this is a representation of a female form. Or is it a representation of a deity? In some cases we take what the experts say for verbatim, really we do not know what the original artist had in mind when he carved this. Was he or she trying to find a way to connect with the spirit world through his or even hers carving?

I haven’t done or had the inclination to sketch/ draw for a while, but I’m actually enjoying using chalks and the return to the inside of Amazon card envelopes. There is something liberating about the process, may be its because the envelope is a throw away object and I don’t have to be precious about what I do to them? Having used sketch books for years they are very restrictive and can hinder ones process.
