Clearing ones mind

After sitting at the computer for most of the day, (apart from building a brick sculpture) there is nothing like spending some time clearing ones mind making something in clay.

Consider this

Ah sat in front of the computer typing away trying to pull things from my mind, yet still finding ways to distract myself.
Over the past few months I have found myself slip from the traditional idea of the figurative to a more abstract figurative.
The excitement I find doing this is truly exhilarating. Each day it’s like a new set of questions being asked.
Today’s form is calling to me yes they are fragments of 100 year plus house bricks, but look past this to the purity of form, the twist in shape, the balance and fragility, consider these aspects and you might be able to understand where I am at.

Poetic spirituality

It always amazes me how you can live and look at something for months on end and then boom at the most inappropriate time magic happens and it all comes together in a blinding flash.
Simplicity can some times be the most poetic
This structure is so far called
Self supporting.

Raffia and dowel structure.
It has a spiritual feel to it.

Brick

On and off between writing for my MA, working on my website, and answering questions for an interview ( watch this space), I have been working on this.

Roughly titled
Emperor Brick Head.
110 year old brick salvaged from my friends back garden

All I can say is carving in to brick is hard work.
Now to think about the base, I really do not want to use the lime stone even though it looks good.
