The mortar is a lovely medium to carve in to and I feel like I’m approaching these much like I approached my wood cuts by carving away the negative spaces and brushing over the positives with a bit of charcoal.
I also like how the colour of the mortar adds to the piece to give it an almost aged historical feel.
Where they are going I do not know at the moment, they could just be bits of light relief, but for now let’s enjoy the journey..
